Take My Yoke Upon You

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
-Jesus, Matthew 11:28-30

Here are a few things I've noticed about an ox yoke...

A Yoke is used to Serve
The ox isn't in it for himself, it's for another.

A Yoke takes Patient Endurance
You're at it all day. The fruit doesn't come until much later.

A Yoke is Heavy
It's hard work. Think it was hard for Jesus to keep his mouth shut before his accusers? It's hard, but He gives the strength. It's not easy because you lounge around, it's easy because He gives you the strength.

A Yoke takes Humility
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:" Philippians 2:5-7

A Yoke takes Following
The ox doesn't lead, he follows the leading of his master.
"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:" I Peter 2:21 "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." I John 2:6

A Yoke takes Teamwork
There must be more than one ox, and they all be pulling in unison for it to work.
